Great sushi, fast and attentive service!

I have been going to Sushi Tao since I moved up here 4 years ago and have never had any complaints about the place and actually preferred their sushi over the other competing restaurants in the area. However, tonight when I tried calling and ordering an order to go over the phone for the very first time I was spoken to so disrespectfully that I am still bewildered by the interaction. I was calm and polite and simply told the gentleman on the other line that he had lost my business there. What a shame how one simple interaction can cause someone who loved their food so much to refuse to give them my business anymore. Improve your customer service if you want to ever compete with the other local sushi restaurants or continue serving up mediocre food with a bad attitude.

This place is delicious but the price is outrageous for a coastal town. Why not feature local fish? Also why no all you can eat options? Sushi isnt that expensive to make...

Great service, fast, not cold. The food was amazing. I'm a picky sushi eater and the rolls were too good. Highly recommend. Staff was amazing as well. All around pleasant experience.

This was a really fun dining experience. Our server was awesome and the food was really fresh and good. Most of the food preparation was done in an open area where we could watch it being prepared. I had a party of 6 and no reservations. They seated us at the biggest table which accommodated us well. We enjoyed a variety of flavors and different dishes. The miss soup was good, the tempura was pretty good and the rolls were delicious.

The lemon salmon sashimi was delicious! My partner enjoyed the 49er roll the most. I didn't much care for the miso soup, but ny partner loved it, so I think that was just a matter of taste preference. Great service and food quality!

The pros here are that there's usually never a wait and they serve you food extremely quick. The cons are the food isn't the quality that are too my standards. Not bad, but not my style.

Fist time visiting and first time eating sushi. Waiter friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. My Firecracker sushi was delicious. Id definitely go again.

Great ambience. Great- looking menu. Be careful to choose plates you know a sushi place would do well (i.e. the rolls were excellent but my curry was underwhelming). I'll try something else next time.

Reasonable sushi joint

This food was so good! I took my mom here for mother's day. There was hardly anyone there because it was still pretty early. We got seated right away and our server was super cool & mellow but on top of his waiter game.We ordered the tempura basket and got it in like 5 minutes the tempura was perfect. Light, hot, crispy and not greasy. The portion is huge it can with yam, asparagus, onion, broccoli and shrimp, it was delicious. So we went a little overboard but everything was bomb and in good we went a little nuts. We had enough food for ourselves and took a bunch over to my son-son at work. We had the golden dragon with avocado and it was amazing! We also had the house special roll, the fire dragon roll and the three fairy tales. Everything was fresh, bright, and clean tasting. I couldn't believe the total it was very reasonable. The restaurant is clean, service is great, food is delicious. This is a 5 🌟 review.

I'm not sure about the sushi but i paid $15 for the chicken teriyaki and there was about 5 small pieces of chicken in here. The food is good but I feel a little played for getting so little chicken.

Especially nice on Sundays as they have low traffic. The sushi is just as high quality as other local sushi locations, while being slightly lower priced - and fast! They even have a wider variety of rolls than I'm used to, including vegetarian options. Their service is fantastic, and their seating is easy to navigate and well laid out. I will be coming back again and again.

We didn't know nearly as much about sushi is the grandkids. But the man who waited on us was excellent. And very patient. And the food was excellent

My favorite sushi place in Arcata after living here since 2013!

I got the house roll and the spicy tuna roll. The house roll was supposed to have salmon in it, did not see one bit. The inside was a California Roll, which was definitely not advertised on the menu, and omg it was so tiny. I'm not expecting something with the thickness of my wrist, but it wasn't much thicker than a hot dog. The spicy tuna roll was good, no complaints there. But if you're going to charger the prices that you do, don't make the rolls so tiny.

Found several things that I liked despite not liking that much fishy stuff. Best sushi restaurant experience in a while!

My wife and I went there, and it was a real treat! We had ordered three types of sushi, and we thought that all three were delicious. I only wished we were not so full, so we could try more!

Service was quick and friendly. Food delicious. Very nice atmosphere. Will definitely be going back. :)
